Prior to becoming the President of Philadelphia University, Dr. Spinelli was Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship and Global Management at Babson College. Prior to his career in academia, he was a member of the founding team of Jiffy Lube International and later the founder, director, and senior executive of American Oil Change Corporation, the largest franchise of this international automotive retailer. He serves on both charitable and corporate boards. His greatest strengths are in entrepreneurship, organization mission growth, the management of complex organizations, applied research, curriculum development, teaching, and fundraising.

Ask a room of leaders why they set goals and most will say accountability. That answer creates the problem. Goals exist for alignment. The company needs to reach a number, so this group does this, that group does that, and together the math works. Everyone is pointed in the same direction. Focus comes second. A good goal tells you what to say no to.
