Joe Spinelli is a business coach, venture investor, and capital markets advisor.  He applies his strategic insight, capital markets experience, and financial analysis knowledge to help his clients navigate their own unique path to growth.  Joe utilizes a combination of proven frameworks along with experiences from his investing and operating career to help his clients set and achieve goals.  From his perspectives as a venture investor, Joe helps his clients identify key areas for development and serves as a catalyst to maximize confidence in capital raising situations.

In 2007, Joe joined the founding team of Velocity Financial Group, where he specialized in providing debt and equity capital to growth stage companies.  Joe and the team from Velocity joined NXT Capital in 2011 to launch their Venture Finance practice, and in the process raised over $550mm of capital for their efforts including a $225mm dedicated SBIC fund. At NXT and Velocity, Joe evaluated hundreds of potential investments and was directly involved as an investor in over two dozen companies such as Maxymiser (acquired by Oracle), Thumbplay (acquired by ClearChannel), Boxtone (acquired by Good Technology), and FolioDynamix (acquired by Actua). 

Joe started down the path as a software engineer before electing to become a student of entrepreneurship.  He earned a BS in business management from Babson College, where he received the Earl K. Bowen award for excellence in quantitative methods and completed an honors thesis on the promotional strategies of independent recording artists.  Joe began his professional career as an investment banker with Harris Williams & Co. in Boston, where he was a founding member of the firm’s dedicated technology practice, and worked on a number of successful sell-side M&A engagements.
